Musculoskeletal Therapy for Amputees

The musculoskeletal system is made up of muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, joints, and connective tissue that work together to support movement, balance, and posture.

Following limb loss, the body adapts in significant ways. These changes often place increased strain on the remaining joints and muscles. Over time, this can increase the risk of:

  • Back pain
  • Hip or knee discomfort
  • Joint stiffness
  • Muscle overuse
  • Early degenerative changes, such as arthritis

At the London Prosthetics Centre, our musculoskeletal therapy is designed specifically to support amputees and prosthetic users, helping to relieve discomfort and protect long-term mobility.
