21st May 2025 marked the official opening of the state-of-the-art London Prosthetics Centre (LPC), a facility dedicated to delivering holistic, client-focused prosthetic care and rehabilitation. The launch event welcomed clients, legal partners, healthcare referrers, and industry professionals, all eager to tour the groundbreaking new facility.

The new centre is designed to reflect LPC’s commitment to comprehensive, person-centred care. It boasts three private, fully-equipped fitting rooms and a spacious rehabilitation suite where clients can trial new prosthetic limbs and engage in multidisciplinary treatments. Services include physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and musculoskeletal therapies, all under one roof, ensuring continuity of care and optimal outcomes for every client.

A New Standard in Prosthetic Care and Rehabilitation

The opening ceremony was officiated by Lord Craig Mackinlay of Richborough, a quadruple amputee and client of LPC. In his speech, Lord Mackinlay praised the team for their dedication, stating: “The support provided here is extensive and personal. The team takes time to understand each individual’s needs in a friendly and professional setting. I’m excited to spend more time in this space.” Lord Mackinlay, who lost all four limbs following a severe case of sepsis, now advocates for improved services for all amputees, particularly those with multiple limb loss. He attends LPC for his upper limb prosthetic care.

On-site Prosthetics Manufacturing and Innovation

A further standout feature of the new centre is its on-site manufacturing workshop, complete with a viewing gallery from the rehab suite. Visitors can observe skilled technicians crafting hyper-realistic, bespoke silicone prostheses, highlighting LPC’s blend of cutting-edge technology and artisanal craftsmanship.

Designed for Accessibility, Inclusivity and Comfort

Belinda Smart, Business Manager at LPC, shared her excitement: “We can’t wait to welcome more clients to the new centre. Every aspect of this facility has been designed with care and inclusivity in mind. From improved accessibility, including parking and a lift, to multi-faith prayer spaces, modern, culturally considered bathrooms and comfortable, tech-friendly waiting areas. We’ve thought of everything.”

The centre has also expanded its care pathway through strategic partnerships with Home Rehab Therapists and Remedy Healthcare. These collaborations enable clients who require residential or extended rehabilitation to receive seamless, high-quality care from the point of limb loss through to long-term prosthesis use.

Lifelong Prosthetic Support for Every Client

Carl Cato, Prosthetist at LPC, emphasised the lifelong support the centre offers: “Whether clients come to us immediately post-amputation or years later, our team is here for them for life. We guide and support every step of the way, helping clients achieve their goals with confidence and independence.”

With the launch of this new centre, the London Prosthetics Centre is setting a new standard in prosthetic care and rehabilitation, prioritising compassion, innovation, and results.
